::Hi, I'm Janet Murray. And here's something that might surprise and inspire you a few weeks back. I posted something on my personal Facebook account about how I was fed up with people, asking me about the menopause I'm at that age, where it seems that if I mentioned that I have anemia or that I didn't sleep well the night before people would say, oh,
::is that the menopause? Which feels a little bit personal a bit like saying, oh, are you grumpy? Because you're on your period. Well, that post really blew up. Some people agreed with me that it was a bit personal for people to start talking to me about the menopause. When I hadn't mentioned it was something I was going through or wanted to talk about as far as I'm concerned,
::I'm not by the way, but some people argued that it was good. I shouldn't be so sensitive because it's good. People feel able to talk openly about the menopause. So why am I sharing that with you? Because as I'm recording this it's October, which is menopause awareness month, and I'm seeing tons of content about it all over social media, all this labs are talking about it.
::It's definitely an entire topic, but also an important topic. I'm also sharing it because people often ask me how to take awareness days. And there are hundreds in my courageous concept planner, and actually turn them into social media posts. I have a whole podcast episode on this. It's called non-cheesy ways to turn awareness days into content. I'll link to that in the show notes,
::but here's a quick explainer. The most important thing to remember is that awareness days are not a straight jacket that dictate that you can only post about a certain topic at a certain time. If you live in a certain country, which is why you really don't need to worry about whether the awareness day you want to create content about originated in your country or another one.
::And you certainly don't need to start every post that links went, awareness state with its national, whatever day. In fact, you don't even need to mention the awareness state at all. Awareness dates are just a jumping off point. They're just a tool that you can use to inspire you when you're serving at a blank page. And you're not sure what to create content about,
::but I appreciate if you haven't created content for a business before, or you're someone who tends to second, guess yourself a lot, it can feel like a big jumping off point. So with that in mind, here's a bit of inspiration for you, how you might take menopause month and turn it into content. So if you're a career coach, you could create a piece of content.
::This would probably work quite well for LinkedIn on whether companies should give women additional time off for managing menopause symptoms or whether they should be running menopause programs for their female staff. If you're a nutritionist, you could share recipes or foods that help with menopause symptoms. If you're a fitness trainer, you could create content around how the body changes during menopause and exercises that can help with some of those changes.
::I'm not an expert by any means, but I have read that lots of women tend to gain weight around their middle, which can make it a bit difficult to find players that fit and flatter. So that's definitely something that you could tackle in your content if you are a fashion brand or a stylist. And here's my curveball paste. If you have a pet business,
::what about doing something like do dogs experience the menopause or what are the symptoms? And by the way, you don't always have to stick to business. If you have a personal experience or story that you feel your audience would find useful, or will be able to relate to. Then by all means, share that story. Would you like to create super engaging content about your business and do it consistently?
